World Thalassemia Day
World Thalassaemia Day is an annual event held on May 8th to raise awareness about thalassemia, a genetic blood disorder. It was established by the Thalassaemia International Federation (TIF) in memory of George Englezos, the son of TIF’s founder, who died from the condition. The day is dedicated to honoring those affected by thalassemia, promoting understanding of the disease, and advocating for improved prevention, management, and treatment.
